Today God says:
"The weapons of your warfare are mighty".

He promises me:
"For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal; but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds, casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ". (2 Cor. 10:4,5)

My response to the word:
When waging spiritual warfare, I will remember God's promise to me. I do not have to fight the good fight of faith with fleshly weapons. God has provided me with His Word, the name of Jesus, the word of my testimony, and the blood of Jesus as effective and mighty weapons of spiritual warfare. I will use these weapons throughout this day whenever I encounter temptation or assaults of the enemy. With God's help I will not yield to temptation and I will win each battle.

My prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for your Word which is sharper than any two-edged sword. Thank you for the precious blood of Jesus and His mighty name. Throughout this day I will wear the armour you've given to me, and I will employ the weapons of spiritual warfare as you've directed me to do.

Today's scriptures:
"Finally, receive your power from the Lord and from His mighty strength. Put on all the armour that God supplies. In this way you can take a stand against the devil's strategies". (Eph. 6:10 GW) "God's Word is alive and active. It is sharper than any two-edged sword and cuts as deep as the place where soul and spirit meet". (Heb. 4:12 GW) "They won the victory over him because of the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony". (Rev. 12:11 GW)

Quote for today:
It strikes me that conflict is the principal feature of the Christian life this side of heaven. (Charles Spurgeon)

On this day:
On 25th April1800, William Cowper, 69, English poet, died. A lifelong victim of depression, Cowper nevertheless left a great spiritual literary legacy, including three enduring hymns: "God Moves in a Mysterious Way," "Oh, For a Closer Walk with God" and "There is a Fountain."
