Today God says:
  "I am the way".

He promises me:
"I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, but by Me". (John 14:6)

My response to the word:
Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. I will follow no other way. Through Him I have access to my Father in heaven. The truth of Jesus Christ has made me free. He has given me abundant life. He has made me new.

My prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for sending Jesus Christ to live and die for me. Through Him, I am able to pray with confidence and to come boldly to your throne of grace. I will live according to His way, His truth, and His life.

Today's scriptures:
"You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free". (John 8:32 GW) "I came so that you will have life and so that you will have everything you need". (John 10:10 GW) "Whoever is a believer in Christ is a new creation. The old way of living has disappeared. A new way of living has come into existence". (2 Cor. 5:17 GW) "So we can go confidently to the throne of God's kindness to receive mercy and find kindness, which will help us at the right time". (Heb. 4:16 GW)

Quote for today:
The cross is the hinge of history. The great events that were compressed into the four days surrounding Christ's death touch the lives and hopes of everyone. (George Sweeting)

On this day:
On 17th January 1829, Catherine Mumford was born in Ashbourne, England. A frail child, she left school at 14 because a severe spinal complaint forced her to spend most of her youth flat on her back. She was a brilliant student, however, and her illness did not prevent her from studying theology, history, geography, and philosophy. She became the wife of William Booth and contributed many ideas to The Salvation Army and was the designer of the flag and the famous poke bonnet. Most important, she must receive credit for the full equality women enjoy in The Salvation Army.
