Today God says:
"Your effectual, fervent prayer will avail much".

He promises me:
"Confess your faults one to another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much". (James 5:16)

My response to the word:
The power of prayer goes beyond my ability to understand. In spite of this, I know that God wants me to pray, and He promises to hear and answer my prayers when I pray according to His will. Throughout this day I will remember that God, my heavenly Father, is only a prayer away. I will claim His promise, "Call to me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things which you know not".

My prayer:
Lord, I believe in you and I believe your Word. Thank you for the access you give to me through prayer and that my prayers are powerful and effective. I will pray without ceasing today.

Today's scriptures:
"Call to me, and I will answer you. I will tell you great and mysterious things that you do not know". (Jer. 33:3 GW) "Never stop praying". (1 Thess. 5:17 GW) "We are confident that God listens to us if we ask for anything that has His approval. We know that He listens to our requests. So we know that we already have what we ask Him for". (1 John 5:14,15 GW)

Quote for today:
We must alter our lives in order to alter our hearts, for it is impossible to live one way and pray another. (William Law)

On this day:
On 18th April 1874, in England, the remains of Scottish missionary David Livingstone were interred in London's Westminster Abbey. He had died the previous year in Africa at the age of 60.
